Awareness Raising Session in August, 2017, at Science and Knowledge University in Sana'a

In partnership with the Women and Children Sector at the Islamic Forum, the awareness raising session in August, 2017, was held at the University of Science and Knowledge in Sana'a Governorate. A number of displaced women in Sana'a Governorate, some of whom are working in leadership and supervisory positions on displaced women from Saada Governorate and Hajja, following:

  • The basic concepts of stress and crisis (psychological stress - psychological trauma - psychological disorders - psychotherapy - psychiatry).
  • People reactions when facing stress.
  • Adaption to stress.
  • Psychological support for people with psychological stress (adults, children, children with special needs).
  • The most important psychological guidance to face psychological stress.

During the session, Family Counseling and Development Foundation was introduced as a non-profit institution and a pioneer in specialized psychological work. He thanked the Women and Children Sector at the Islamic Forum for its cooperation with the Foundation in carrying out this important activity and thanked the University of Science and Knowledge for its interaction with the most important social and psychological issues at present.

The meeting aimed to raise the awareness of the participants about all psychological stress and psychological support, and were given some skills through which they are able to cope with these pressures and steadfastness to overcome the crisis we are living in. They were also informed of the most important places where they can benefit from specialized services, such as the hotline (136), The Family Counseling and Development Foundation clinics, and the Yemeni Women's Union especially for those suffering from gender-based violence. And some humanitarian organizations at the governorate level, such as Child Protection, ADRA and UNICEF.

At the end of the session, pamphlets were distributed to attendees and some posters for hotline and psychiatric services for the Family Counseling and Development Foundation.
