The first hotline of its kind in Yemen against domestic violence

The Family Counseling and Development Foundation will start on Saturday, January 1, 2012, the hotline project for psychological and social problems on toll free number 136 from any land line in the whole republic.

Professor Balqis Jabari, the Foundation's president and head of the hotline team, said that such a service was not previously available in Yemen in this type and scope. The Foundation will provide a dedicated psychological and psychologist staff to receive and deal with calls.

"This line is aimed at all members of the society who suffer from domestic violence, psychological or behavioral disorders, or manifestations of intellectual or behavioral extremism," said Dr. Balqees, who writes: "These problems are spread in the context of poverty and unemployment and in crises and conflict zones, "As a first step, the specialist staff will receive calls from 9 A.M. to 1 P.M. and from 4 P.M. to 9 P.M

In the second phase, the hotline will provide services to all members of the society for a 24 hours a day, covering all aspects and dimensions of psychological problems which is free from landline and mobile phones.
