FCDF Chairwoman Briefs the Dutch Government Delegation on the Suffering of the IDPs

This morning, Monday, May 23, 2022, a high-level delegation from the Dutch government visited one of the IDP camps in which Family Counseling & Development Foundation provides psychological care services for.

The camp includes more than 800 families from the governorates of Taiz and Hodeidah.

The visit was coordinated by chairwoman of Family Counseling & Development Foundation Foundation, Dr. Bilqis Jubari, in order to inform the Dutch delegation about the living conditions of the IDPs in the shelter camp, and to convey a clear image of their suffering and their humanitarian conditions.

During the visit, the Dutch government delegation - which included Ms. Brigitta Tazelaar, Deputy Director-General for International Cooperation at the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Yemen, Mr. Peter Dirk Hof, and Ms. Marica Werda, Head of Development Cooperation at the Dutch Foreign Ministry - toured a number of IDPs’ tents in the camp to learn about the extent of their suffering and to know their needs, including their need for psychological services.

At the beginning of the visit, the Dutch delegation listened to one of the psychological awareness lectures on "adapting to the stressors caused by displacement", which is implemented by Family Counseling & Development Foundation for the IDPs in the camp.

During the lecture, the delegation listened to the women IDPs about the extent of their suffering, and the extent of their need for health and psychological services.

At the end of the visit, the Dutch government delegation confirmed that they would have a detailed report on the suffering of IDPs in Yemen, and submit it to the parties that will contribute to alleviating the suffering and addressing the conditions of Yemenis, especially the IDPs camps.

In turn, Dr. Bilqis Jubari expressed her great happiness that she was able to contribute to coordinating this important visit, expressing her great appreciation to the Dutch government for its great interest in helping Yemenis; and this important visit is only one of the indicators of the Dutch government interest to help Yemeni people.

Dr. Jubari also thanked the camp's executive unit for facilitating this visit.
